What is WiFi?
WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity and is a wireless network protocol. It allows devices to connect to network of access points or hotspots wirelessly to gain access to the Internet. Wi-Fi is becoming a prevalent way to connect to networks and the Internet.
Why is it important?
WiFi has become one of the most adopted technologies this decade and its adoption shows its importance for users and businesses a like. Wireless working allow users to free themselves from their desks and studies to allow for a more socialable use of Internet browsing and for workers to be productive whilst out of the office.
What will it let me do?
WiFi provides a standard wireless environment to deliver broadband wireless services to users to connect to their network and the Internet. The high speed allows users to transfer files and run network services affectively.
What are public hotspots?
Public hotspots are locations where users can access the Internet in public locations such as train stations, airports, hotels and cafes. Hotspot providers run public hotspots as a charge for service, a pay for service gives user confidence that there is sufficient bandwidth, customer support, security and a good number of locations to connect at.
Why is hotspot aggregation and national and international coverage important?
Hotspots are limited to 100metre radius, meaning that coverage can be sparse. By aggregating hotspots users get access to more hotspots with a single account, no matter who the provider is and because the standard is international, aggregation can happen all over the UK and internationally.
